Zygor Guide Review
Hey it’s Karel here,
You are reading my uncensored review of what I really think about the Zygor leveling guides. You might be wondering why I am writing this? Well, when Zygor updated his leveling guides to version 2.0 there were some new features added that aren’t being discussed in the reviews that I could find. So I thought I’d write one quickly to help you with the questions you might have.
I do have to warn you though, I will be discussing some good points but also some bad points. If you do not want to know any of this I suggest you do not read this review at all and leave immediately.
Zygor guides 2.0 is pretty simple to use, it is basicly a World of Warcraft addon that leads you through the game totally automatic. The leveling guides come with an Installer, all you have to do is select your World of Warcraft directory and it will install itself. Once installed you enter the game with your Horde or Alliance character and the guide will automatically load with the part of the guide that you are supposed to follow.
The addon consists of 2 things; the guideĀ and an arrow to point you in the right direction. Both of which you can put anywhere within your WoW screen. This is definitely a positive point, since you will never have to alt-tab out of the game to read the guide and there is no need to print it either. The quests are explained in a very simplistic way, even my mother can understand what to do. Some of the quests that are difficult have a more detailed explanation underneath the main objective of the quest. See the image for an example. When you have to go to a point that is, for example, on top of a mountain then the guide will first point you towards the path that leads up to the mountain and then it will tell you to follow the path.
The addon updates with your progress once you start questing, wheter you kill a creep, loot a questitem or speak to a questgiver, the addon will register it all and will progress to the next step after completing one. What I also like is that if you need to use a questitem, for example, you need to fill an empty vial, then the addon displays the item within the steps and the only thing you need to do is click it when you are at the point where you need to fill it. This really saves me a lot of time for not having to search within my inventory.
There is nothing as simple as following a step by step guide that does almost everything for you.

Something worth mentioning is that the guide has a different path to follow for each race and the guide also takes in account the several class quests that you can or must do. Talking about classes the guide does not always tell you when to go and buy skills or when to go and sell your loot. I didn’t find this that much of a problem though, but you might think differently.
The addon is fully customizable, from colors to textsize, size of the window, the number of steps it displays and more. Configuring the addon is done very simple by clicking on the Zygor button at your minimap. You then get a whole screen where you can configure the leveling guide to your needs. If you would like to work ahead you can easily do it by displaying more steps at the same time or by manually clicking “next step”, something that Zygor didn’t implement and would have been handy here is the possibility to see the steps you skipped, right now you are only able to see the current step and the steps after that. Though I really didn’t skip much quests as the order that the leveling guide gives you is very optimized, I have to add that I found out that just following the steps in the right order is the easiest and fastests way to level with Zygor guides.
Something that is new in version 2.0 is the implementation of a talent build suggestions. You can choose to let theĀ guide automatically invest new talentpoints for you or you can let it give you advice on which talents to choose. Even if you do not follow the suggestions the addon will automatically adjust it’s suggestions to your current build, which is very nice if you are playing a class that you are not familiar with. A little note here, at the time of writing this there are not many builds available yet, most classes only have 1 leveling build and 1 pvp-leveling build. So if you do not agree with the talent build that is being suggested you might have to figure something out yourself.
After using more guides then my wallet could handle I was really unlucky that I tried the Zygor guides as last. What I really don’t recommend though is that you go and buy the guide straight away, because there is a free trial available for the levels 1 to 13 for each of the different races. Just create a new toon and start leveling using the Zygor guide, you will see it is a lot more fun and it might even feel too easy now.
